Come to 864 Route 37 West, Toms River. Park in the front lot — there's always plenty of space. Walk in and introduce yourself at the front desk. Our staff will greet you, get your name, and walk you through everything.
No uniform required on your first visit. Athletic shorts, a t-shirt, and bare feet on the mat is perfect. If you have a gi or workout clothes, bring them. We'll talk about uniforms after your trial.
Your instructor will introduce themselves before class starts. They'll explain what the class covers, answer any questions, and make sure you feel comfortable before you step on the mat.
You'll participate with the group, but you're never pushed beyond your comfort level. Beginners are welcomed and expected. No one will put you on the spot. The culture at EMA is supportive, not intimidating.
Most classes run 45 to 60 minutes. You'll warm up, work on technique, and do some light partner drills. After class, your instructor will check in with you and answer any questions about continuing.
There's no hard sell after your trial. We'll share program options if you're interested, but the decision is entirely yours. Most students who try it want to come back — we let the class speak for itself.
Absolutely not. Every class at Evolution Martial Arts is designed to welcome complete beginners. Your instructor will explain everything step by step, and you'll never be expected to know something before it's taught.
Just yourself and comfortable athletic clothes — shorts and a t-shirt work perfectly. Bring water. No equipment, no uniform, and no special gear is required for your trial classes.
